Sheldon Cooper’s Spaghetti in Marinara sauce with cut up Hot Dogs

One. Two. Three. with a garnish of a Coriander leaf 🙂

Who here is a fan of The Big Bang Theory? I have binge watched the entire series a couple of times already! No points for guessing who my favorite character is – Sheldon. Sheldon is a peculiar person with peculiar (food) choices. He notices Penny’s grocery bag has Marinara Sauce and Spaghetti and recalls his fond childhood memories. Penny graciously offers to invite him over for dinner sometime. Sheldon jumps on the opportunity, and requests Penny to make it just like his mother does. This dish is Sheldon’s favorite preparation of all times, what his mother Mary Cooper describes as “a real ‘eye’-talian(Italian) treat“. The pasta sauce comes right out of a bottle, and is served up with Spaghetti and some cut up Hot Dogs. Quick and easy.

While Penny obliges, Sheldon goes through a whole interesting ordeal of his own before he can get to dinner. How did he like what Penny cooked? I’ll leave a video clip for you guys!

The episode is titled – The Spaghetti Catalyst. I recommend you make this recipe and enjoy it while you’re watching the episode! Dedicating this recipe to all TBBT fans out there!

Sheldon Cooper’s Spaghetti in Marinara Sauce with cut up Hot Dogs
Serves 2
Really, really easy!

Ingredients:

400 g Spaghetti
200 g Marinara Sauce (or any Red Pasta Sauce)
6 Sausages
1 Tablespoon Oil

Method:

Cut up the Sausages into bite sized pieces. Set aside.

Cook the Spaghetti as per the package instructions. Reserve some of the pasta water, about a cup, just in case you need to adjust the consistency of your sauce.

In a medium sized pan, heat up a tablespoon of Oil and sauté the Sausages till they take on some colour. Remove and set aside. In the same pan, cook the Marinara sauce from the bottle as per the instructions. Use the pasta water to adjust the consistency if required. You can even add some sugar to balance the taste if the sauce tastes very sour.

You can either add the Spaghetti and Sausages and mix it all up together, or serve it up separately like I did! It tastes exceptionally comforting. Enjoy 🙂

Dr. Sheldon Cooper really did know how to capture his childhood memories in the form of nostalgic kitchen quick-fixes!

P.S. I promise you guys a great recipe for a red sauce from scratch, very soon. But this time, the bottled stuff will have to do *hides*

P.P.S Shocked you by getting straight to the recipe, right?
